Principal Senior Technical Fellow at the Boeing Company

Guijun is a Principal Senior Technical Fellow at the Boeing Company, leading digital enterprise systems and technologies. After graduating with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, he joined Boeing in 1996 and started his career in the aerospace & defense (A&D) industry. Since then, his technical innovations and leadership have led to numerous applications in various commercial and defense products and systems. He has also provided leadership and services to national and industry organizations and international communities.

During 18 years with Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T), his technical leadership and deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, software and systems engineering, and networking technologies directly contributed to the transformative design and implementation of engineering and manufacturing systems, mission computing architectures and networked avionics systems (e.g., 737 AEW&C, 787, and 777X), and large-scale C4ISR platforms and system of systems. His technical innovations and leadership also helped win multiple major defense product contracts and advanced research contracts, including one for which he served as program chief architect.

After BR&T, he brought deep expertise and industry leadership to Boeing Information Technology (IT) as an Enterprise Architect responsible for digital enterprise systems and technologies across product lifecycle. As IT chief architect for factory automation, he helped design and deploy robotics, digital factory solutions, and their integration into production systems. He provided technical vision, strategy, and technical leadership to digital transformation of core digital enterprise platforms including product lifecycle management, manufacturing operations management, and enterprise resource planning. He has been partnering with academia/industry on innovations in areas such as model-based engineering, digital manufacturing, digital twin/thread, and AI for A&D processes and products.

Active in technical councils, academia/industry engagements, and professional services, he has provided leadership and advisory support to academia/industry partners, national organizations, and international communities. For example, he has organized, steered, and chaired multiple international conferences, workshops, and panels. He also served as a panelist to the National Science Foundation and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Additionally, he has been actively mentoring engineers and college students. He has published 50+ papers in journals, conferences, and book chapters. His innovation includes 21 patents awarded and multiple more pending. His recognitions include AAEOY Asian American Engineer of the Year (2017), SASE Information Technologist of the Year (2019), and IEEE Outstanding Service.
