Dr. Dong Yu is a Fellow of ACM, IEEE, and ISCA. Currently, he is taking the role of distinguished scientist and vice general manager at Tencent AI Lab, supervising a group of talented researchers in exploring the boundaries of machine intelligence.

Dr. Dong Yu is known for his pioneering contributions in speech recognition and deep learning. His research spans speech processing and recognition, multi-modal agentic systems, and natural language processing (including large language models), using deep learning techniques. He has published abundantly. His works have been widely cited, and have been recognized by the 2013, 2016, 2020, and 2022 IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing best paper awards, the 2021 NAACL best long paper award, the 2022 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine best paper award, the 2022 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine best column award, and the EMNLP 2023 outstanding paper award. His work on deep learning-based speech processing and the deep learning toolkit CNTK significantly advanced the field.

Dr. Dong Yu was the chair of the IEEE Speech and Language Processing Technical Committee. He has been serving (or has served) as a distinguished lecturer of ACM and APSIPA, in the editorial board of many transactions and journals such as the IEEE/ACM transactions on audio, speech, and language processing, the IEEE signal processing magazine, and the IEEE journal of selected topics in signal processing, and as members of the organization and technical committees of many conferences and workshops, including technical co-chair of ICASSP 2021, 2027, and 2029.
