Dr. Liu is a BR&T focal responsible for providing an enterprise level technical leadership role on technology roadmap, intellectual property engagement strategy, product design practice and process capability development that creates innovation, quality, cost, and reliability discriminators in electrical power product area. Dr. Liu has been the Principal Investigator for the BR&T key technology area of power generation, conversion, distribution, motor drives, and energy storage, for which he coordinates multiple unique internal, contracted, and internationally-collaborated R&D project statements of work, and leading a multi-disciplinary team to develop advanced power & energy elements and systems that are critical to Boeing vehicle platforms. He succeeded more than 20 Boeing performance awards for outstanding contribution and execution of programs, exceptional problem-solving capability, significant technical accomplishments and technical leadership role. He holds 74 US and 103 international patents, achieved more than 4700 citations of his publications worldwide (Google Scholar), and more than 14800 readership downloads of his publications (Scholar Commons) as of June 2022.

Dr. Shengyi Liu is the recipient of 2017 Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers Organization Achievement Award, and the recipient of 2018 Asian American Engineer of Year Award. He earned his Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering in 1995. He has been a Licensed Professional Engineer since 2005. Dr. Liu is an IEEE Fellow, and has been actively involved in IEEE and AIAA technical committees’ leadership role in developing aircraft electrification and aviation sustainability technologies.
