Michael Chang
I was born in Taiwan
and got my BS degree in Transportation Engineering
and Management from National Chiao-Tung University.
After serving in ROC Army for two years, I came to
U.S. for advanced study. I got a MS degree in
Computer Science from Brigham Young University in
Utah. My first job was developing a UNIX based
laboratory information system for 3M company in Salt
Lake City. After 5 years, I decided to work on PC
software, so I moved to WordPerfect corporation.
WordPerfect was acquired by Novell one year after I
joined. Although I survived through three layoffs
during the acquisition, but I thought it was enough
and time to move on to a different place. Luckily, I
got job offer from Microsoft, so I moved to Seattle
area at the end of 1995. Microsoft has been my
employer since then. My career at Microsoft has been
changed from engineering to management. I am pleased
with the career opportunities that I have with
Microsoft.
My wife and I were married for over 21 years. We
have two boys. One is a senior at University of
Washington studying in Computer Science. My younger
son is currently a freshman at University of
Washington. As the President of CIE-USA Seattle
chapter in 2007, I had opportunities to work with
outstanding people in many events and engage with
national council. I am proud of being a member of
this organization.
